Waingels PTA

Waingels PTA (Parent Teacher Association) is dedicated to supporting the students, families, and staff of Waingels Secondary School. Run by parent and teacher volunteers, we organise various events and fundraising activities throughout the year, aiming to enrich school life and provide opportunities that extend beyond the school's budget.

We recently ran a very successful community Quiz Night that raised over £1000 and launched an online pre-loved uniform shop to promote sustainability and support families in need. The PTA also runs a weekly lottery (details can be found on our website) and collaborates with local businesses for fundraising efforts. Through these activities, Waingels PTA fosters a strong community spirit and enhances the educational experience for all students.

PTA Fundraising

Thanks to our recent fundraising efforts, we were recently able to donate £3,500 to school which teachers were able to bid on for us to approve.

So far, we have paid for two visualisers for the Modern Foreign Languages department, entry to the UKMT Maths challenge, gardening tools and equipment for the Eco committee, 20 food mixers and blenders for the Food department and digital clocks for exams, with further bids waiting to be approved.

We run monthly Sweet Treat Fridays for the students where they can purchase either doughnuts or sweets and drinks and sell refreshments at various school events including Sports Day where the money we raise at this event in 2026, will be donated to school for continued refurbishment of the school toilets.

Our long-term fundraising goal is for a new second-hand minibus so even more students are able to access educational events.

Upcoming Events

Waingels Woodley Run Fest

In partnership with Barnes Fitness, a local fitness company, we are bringing our Waingels Woodley Run Fest to the local community on Sunday 27^th September which we hope will become an annual event

You don’t have to be a runner to enter as everyone is welcome to take part in our fully chip timed 5k, 10k and children’s 2k races starting and ending on the school field. Our event medal has been designed by one of our very own students! **We don’t know who or what it looks like yet**

Become a Volunteer

Throughout the academic year, we offer numerous opportunities for parents/carers to participate in events and fundraising activities.

You don’t need any prior experience, and there’s no expectation for you to attend every meeting or assist at every event. However, by joining forces, we can create a more extensive and higher-quality range of events for our community while raising additional funds to support our children’s education.

Volunteering for Waingels Parent, Teacher Association (Waingels PTA) is an incredibly rewarding experience. Not only do you become part of a collective effort that positively impacts the children’s educational journey and overall experience at school, but it also opens doors to new friendships and a deeper understanding of the school environment. We would especially welcome more male parents and careers on the team!
