Waingels Awarded Bronze Antibullying Badge
Waingels has been awarded the prestigious Anti-Bullying Quality Mark (ABQM-UK) Bronze Award, a national recognition celebrating schools that demonstrate excellence in preventing and responding to bullying. The award reflects the school’s strong commitment to creating a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for every student.
The ABQM-UK framework challenges schools to embed robust, sustainable anti-bullying practices. Waingels impressed assessors by showing that staff, pupils and governors have built a comprehensive network of strategies that empower students and their families to speak up confidently about concerns. The school’s systems ensure that any reports of bullying are handled sensitively, promptly and with a clear focus on student wellbeing.
A standout feature of Waingels’ approach is the active involvement of its student community. Anti-Bullying Ambassadors play a key role, offering peer support through structured mentoring sessions and maintaining a positive presence in social spaces to help ensure all students feel safe and supported.
We are delighted to congratulate Sarah Bellis, Assistant Headteachers and Cameron MacKinnon, Anti-bullying Coordinator for their leadership in coordinating this achievement. Their dedication—alongside the hard work of colleagues, governors and pupils—has been instrumental in securing this recognition. The Bronze Award is a testament to the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering kindness and respect, and we hope it serves as a springboard as Waingels continues its journey toward the Silver Award in the very near future.
