Microsoft Interview Day

On Friday 20th March Year 11 participated in Waingels’ annual Microsoft Interview Day. On this day we invite over 30 members of staff from Microsoft to come and deliver mock 1:1 interviews to our  Year 11s to help us prepare and practice for future job, college or university interviews. 

The day was actually really fun and enjoyable, it was great to experience what it would be like to be in an interview setting and helped me to understand how I could improve for future interviews. We all dressed in formal clothing, and it was a great change to the normal school uniform and made the day more realistic. For my job role I chose to apply to be an Animator and during the interview, the interviewer would ask me questions like, “What made you interested in this role?” “What past experiences and challenges have you faced and how would you overcome them?” I would say that I was definitely nervous at the start but throughout the interview I regained that confidence. The interview only lasts around 10 minutes but its great to have that experience and knowledge of what an interview would be like. 

A piece of advice I would give to those who are doing Microsoft interview day next year is to understand your role, match your CV and Cover Letter to the job you are applying to and most importantly be confident in yourself because at the end of the day they want to see someone who is unique and individual, someone who stands out from the crowd.
