Waingels Mini Marathon

Following on from Sunday’s London Marathon, Waingels joined many other school’s nationally on Monday 28th April, participating in the annual TCS Mini London Marathon, bringing together students from all year groups plus the staff, in a spirited display of endurance and teamwork. Not only did the students have such Pride for taking part in the warm conditions but they were also able to earn points for their community teams!

The event took place on the school field and surrounding grounds, with participants running or walking a carefully marked course under the supervision of staff and Sixth Form marshals. It was a fantastically sunny day filled with enthusiasm and support from spectators cheering along the route. A standout performance came from Alex in Year 10, who impressed everyone by securing first place with a strong and consistent pace throughout the race. His dedication and determination were evident, earning him praise from both peers and teachers alike. Tashvi in Year 8, was our first female to finish, again demonstrating resilience and endurance around the course, finishing with a smile on her face. Mr Chapman and Mrs Dunsmoir demonstrated their excellent running skills by being the first members of staff to finish.

One of the most heartwarming moments of the event came at the finish line, where every participant was met with rapturous applause, regardless of their placement. Spectators waved flags and cheered with equal enthusiasm for the final finishers, many of whom walked the course, creating a truly inclusive and celebratory atmosphere

Congratulations to everyone who took part and for earning your Communities points to take forward ahead of the all-important Sports Day!
