Year 8 Students Showcase Their Entrepreneurial Spirit with Money-Smart Games
On March 26th and 27th, our Year 8 students took part in an exciting challenge to design innovative games aimed at teaching young people about money. This event was part of our wider Careers and Enterprise programme, which helps students develop key skills for their future careers and prepares them for life beyond school.
Throughout the day, students worked in teams, each taking on a distinct business role. Some became Logistics Officers, others were tasked with product design, and all contributed their unique talents to bring their ideas to life. As the day progressed, the games began to take shape, with students excited to test each other’s creations during Period 5. Meanwhile, our panel of judges reviewed the games and accompanying materials, evaluating everything from creativity to educational value.
I was genuinely impressed by the students' efforts. They displayed remarkable teamwork, time management, and creative problem-solving skills as they worked toward a common goal—all under the pressure of a deadline. It was wonderful to see such a showcase of talent and skill, with many teachers commenting on how refreshing it was to see the students working in this way.
The event was a fantastic success, and all students should be incredibly proud of their contributions, regardless of whether their team took home a prize. The students from the winning team for each day will receive an Amazon voucher in recognition of their hard work, whilst the highly commended teams enjoyed some chocolate coins for their efforts.
Congratulations to all involved in a day which showcased flexibility, teamwork, and creativity! Well done Year 8!
