Winter Showcase

On Wednesday 7th December, me and 80 other students from all year groups had the pleasure of performing in the Waingels Winter Showcase. It was an amazing production put together by the Music, Drama, Dance and Performing Arts departments with the help of former student Ben.

There was a lot of families who came to watch, 300+ chairs were filled and we were ready to go at 7pm! Starting with the concert band and ending with the lower and senior school choir. In between there were many acts from solos to duets to trios and group performances. Many acts from the 21st century to the 16th century. With a drama scene from Hamlet, Shakespeare, and a student who composed her own song. There were a wide range of instruments including clarinets, violin, flutes, trumpets, drums, piano and guitars and a dance performance from our Waingels Dance Company and after school club. There was also a great performance from Year 9 Performing Arts students who sang a song from Hamilton.

I really enjoyed the concert and it was a great experience to be in. I am proud to be a Waingels student who can take part in the concert as it shows creativity and dedication in what me and my fellow pupils do in and outside of school. I would like to say thank you to all the teachers who helped to make the Winter Collection happen.

This is what Miss Mann, Subject Leader for Music said on the night: “Firstly I would like to congratulate the students on all their hard work in the lead to this fantastic Winter Showcase. Their unwavering dedication to the rehearsals and time put in at home has well and truly paid off. Tonight, was a night of excellence. A wonderful collaboration of Music, Drama, Performing Arts and Dance. Secondly, it goes without saying that it is the support of you, the audience, that helps to make these events a success. And finally, none of this showcase would even be possible without the leadership of the staff involved tonight. Mrs Choudrie, Mr Wills, Miss Bartlett, Miss Crang and Mrs Dunsmoir have worked tirelessly to support our students and help them to show their talent to you this evening. We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and look forward to seeing you at our other events throughout 2023.”
