Special Educational Needs Coordinator (Maternity Cover) (SENCo)

TLR 1

We are seeking to appoint an excellent, qualified SENCo and practitioner to join the Intervention and Inclusion team of our successful school as an SENCo to cover for a colleague on maternity leave.

Waingels is an 11 to 18 Co-Educational Academy in Wokingham. We are a popular, high performing Comprehensive school, serving our local community. Our successes and achievements can be attributed to our commitment to establish and grow a Better Never Stops culture, providing a safe, inclusive and rich learning environment where students feel safe and valued, founded on respectful relationships for all. Our ethos and culture are values based. We set high standards and expect all our students and staff to be respectful, kind, resilient and proud of our school, our achievements and our community.

Our values underpin our “Waingels Ready” expectations that we have for everyone within the Waingels community. These expectations form the basis of everything we do, and everything we believe in as a school and as a community.

We are very pleased with our recent Ofsted feedback (June 2023) and how it has endorsed the achievements, improvements and direction that we are travelling in. Ofsted noted that:

- Waingels “continues to be a good school”

- “Pupils enjoy being part of the inclusive community that is Waingels”

- “…the school is a kind and caring school.”

- “Leaders have high ambition of pupils with special educational needs…”

We are also very proud of the achievements of our students. Under the new measures our students at Key Stage 4 and 5 made very good progress.
