New Bug & Bat House Designed by Year 7 Students
Year 7 Enterprise Day allows students to practice and show skills that enrich their experience at Waingels. This year we were challenged to devise and promote a project that increased the ‘Eco status’ of the school. Waingels welcomed several businesses on the day to help support students. As well as working as a team with different roles assigned to students, groups also had the opportunity to present their work to their peers. One business was Overbury, who collaborate with many well known companies like GSK to ensure that their work spaces are a functional and enriching environment. After working with Personal Development group 7N, and being impressed with the groups work ethic, resilience and team work, the representative from Overbury took the students idea to build a bat and bee house for Waingels’ site, back to their team. We are delighted that the team at Overbury produced a bat and bee house for Waingels based on our students work, and presented it to some of the students involved in its design. The house will live in the Green Zone garden, where it can be used by students during some of their Science lessons (Species in the Wild Year 9) as well as any visiting insects and small mammals that pop by for a stay!
