Salary range - L21 to L25

After the successful appointment of the current sole Deputy Headteacher to Headteacher we are looking for an individual with the passion, energy and skillset to complement our forward thinking and dynamic Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant impact and tangible difference to our school.

The Deputy Headteacher role will offer strategic leadership and management of the whole school, with responsibility for the strategic development of Quality of Education.

The Deputy Headteacher will work with the Headteacher, Governing Body, Senior Leadership Team and the wider community to provide professional leadership, vision and direction for the school. The Deputy Headteacher will embed our culture that promotes exceptionality, equality and high expectations for all. 

The successful candidate will work closely with the Headteacher and alongside a supportive and experienced Senior Leadership Team, to successfully achieve the next stage of Waingels strategy and vision – an “exceptional school, at the heart of it’s community, where Better Never Stops”. The successful applicant should be able to meet the skills and experiences stated in the job description and person specification. 

The quality of education role will include:

  • Strategic Leadership and Management of the school including all quality of education monitoring and evaluation procedures
  • Leadership and management of all staff matters including Performance Management, absence, cover, well-being/work-load, HR policies and recruitment and retention
  • Leadership of curriculum design including timetable and options process

This quality of education role could include one or more of the following areas of responsibilities: 

  • Leadership of Teaching and learning across the school 
  • Leadership of continued staff professional development across the school
  • Leadership of Assessment and Data across the school
  • Leadership of Curriculum Intent, Implementation and Impact across the school

The exact role will be determined according to the applicant's strengths/experience and will be dependent on the current wider SLT roles and responsibilities.  

As a member of the senior leadership team, you will also be centrally involved in the overall leadership and management of the School, deputising for the Headteacher when required.
