Waingels Welcomes a New Head Team

With all of the student and staff votes collected, a close look at their applications and campaigns, and rigorous but enjoyable interviews, I am very pleased to introduce you all to the new Waingels Head Team for 2022-23. The new Head Team will be led by Head Students Lumnwi and Jack, Deputy Head Students Nova (Pride) and Joe (Kindness), and Team Leaders Thomas (Respect) and Kimberley (Resilience). As ever, each member of the Head Team will take responsibility for one of the main Waingels’ values, with our Head Students both taking a lead on our key focus on Equality.

Throughout the whole process, the new Head Team really have become a ‘team’, supporting each other through the process, and demonstrating the skills required to lead Waingels School Council. Throughout the last year, we extended the School Council to include representatives from each year group, as well as student representatives from all year groups, in order to give as many students as possible a chance to have their say and to represent the views of their peers. We look forward to our very first new School Council meeting in January 2023.

A huge thank you to our outgoing Head Team who have achieved so much during their tenure. Under the fantastic leadership of Head Students Abi and Arysha, the 2021-22 Head Team have brought cultural diversity to the forefront of the Waingels community, they have sought new ways to give all students a voice, and they have successfully led the Waingels School Council. Abi, Arysha, Anna, Jess, Evie, Fran and Patience have already been working with the new Head Team to make sure that their work will continue to grow and develop, securing their legacy as a fantastic Head Team.

I am sure you will all join me in wishing them the very best of luck with their end of Year 13 qualifications and their plans for the future. Please see over for Head Team photographs and profiles.
