Excellent Set of GCSE Results

Waingels GCSE Results 2017

We are delighted to publish another excellent set of GCSE results for 2017. These results are particularly pleasing given the changes and the new more challenging English and Maths specifications.

And it is the English and maths results which are most impressive. 87% have achieved a grade 4 (equivalent to a grade C) or better in English and 79% in maths.

The English Baccalaureate EBACC – a grade 4 or better in English, Maths, 2 Sciences, a language and either history or geography has been achieved by 43% of students.

There have been many outstanding individual results and the following students in particular deserve a special mention:

11 grades at A, A*7,8 or 9 – Erin Lee, Chloe Winsor, Abbey Tivey and Nikita Finch.

Erin

10 grades at A, A*7,8 or 9 – Josephine Frost and Lauren Thompson.

8 grades at A, A*7,8 or 9 – Ellie Colyer, Seth Khaleque, Georgia Carr, Amy Smith, James Mahoney, Sophie Johnson and Haleema Mohamed.

But there were also many more students making outstanding progress and exceeding targets. Aisha Ahmed who achieved grade 9 in both English Language and Literature is worthy of mention as are Jake Bunce, Safa Chaudhry, Kelvin Ampong and Scott Plunkett.

There were also some outstanding subject performances: Drama – 96%, PE 94%, Business and Psychology both at 81, and a special mention for the 18A* & 18 A grades in History – nearly 40% of the cohort achieving and A+.

Congratulations to all. These outstanding outcomes for our students are the result of dedicated hard work and effort over a long period of study. It was lovely to see so many happy students collecting their results this morning and we look forward to welcoming them into the 6th form in September.

Thanks should go to all the staff and to parents for their hard work and effort in supporting our students.
