Battlefields Trip

Between the 15th and 17th November, The History Department took 40 Year 9 students on our annual visit to the World War One Battlefields in Northern France. Students visited The Battle of the Somme. The trip involved walking in the footsteps of soldiers, understanding the landscape of the area, a museum and visits to both British and German war graves. Students laid a wreath at the Thiepval Memorial to remember local Woodley men who gave their lives in the First World War. We also paid our respects at one of the student’s family memorial. Once again the students were impeccably behaved and acted as great ambassadors for the school. Thank you to Mr Price for his help organising the trip.
