Our School App Stay connected on the go...
At Waingels we recognise the important role we play in preparing students for their next steps. While this work begins far earlier than Sixth Form we work hard to support all of our students regardless of which path they choose to take.
During induction week all Year 12 students are introduced to careers planner which is a hub of information about all Post 18 options and will aid students throughout their time at Waingels Sixth Form to explore options at whatever stage they may be at. Students can dip in and out of this resource and it will feature in the directed tutor programme at key points throughout the year.
For students considering Oxford, Cambridge, Medicine, Dentistry, Veterinary Science and other highly competitive universities or courses we work closely with Wellington College to provide a super-curricular programme of study. For more information please speak to Mrs Ward.
The intention of the careers planner and Waingels partnership is to compliment the rich programme we provide for students which is as follows:
March – careers fair (apprenticeships and university)
July – One week of work experience
July – 2-3 day careers programme including presentations about apprenticeships and university, cv and interview workshops and personal statement and UCAS application introductions.
July – Parents evening regarding UCAS and student finance
September - October – Support with early entry UCAS application
September – January – Support with UCAS applications
January – Additional Finance talk
February – July – Support for Apprenticeship applications including a number of workshops for small groups
Any student struggling with their career options should speak to their tutor in the first instance. One to one careers appointments may also be booked with our careers advisor, Jen Vinton to further discuss options. Please speak with Mrs Price to book an appointment.
