Year 1 Tray Garden Project

On Friday 18th May Waingels hosted the Woodley Cluster Year 1 Project with Beechwood Primary, Highwood Primary and Willow Bank Infants all in attendance. Prior to the day students had been working on topics such as Wacky Weather and Glorious Gardens. Students used this knowledge to design and create beautiful tray gardens in teams. Students also took part in making twig furniture and pebble painting workshops.

We had many wonderful outcomes including ‘Fairy Gardens’, ‘Relaxing Spaces’ and a disabled garden with wide, smooth paths, just to name a few… It was lovely to work with the Year 1 students and see their creativity and discussions over the designing process. We were honoured to have the Mayor and members of the Woodley Flower Club to spend the day with us and judge the teams on their designs, team work and final gardens.

At the end of the day all students received a participation certificate and the winners were announced, with the ‘Fairy Garden’ achieving first place! Myself and Miss Richardson would like to thank the judges for spending the day with us, to all the staff that supported the day and all the parents for attending the prize giving. Congratulations to all the students!
