The A Level results at Waingels go from strength to strength with 84% of grades at A* - C. For the third year in a row we have seen an improvement in the % of A* to C grades – despite the introduction of new and more challenging specifications in most subjects examined for the first time this year. We congratulate all our students and staff and commend them for their dedication and hard work in the past two years to achieve these outstanding results. We are delighted that so many have achieved the grades they needed to progress to the university of their choice.

7Particular mention should be made of Prabhveer Singh who achieved an unprecedented 3A* grades – Prabhveer will be going to University College London to read Economics; and also of Alison Owen who achieved A*A* A and will be reading Anglo Saxon, Norse and Celtic at Queens College Cambridge. Both also achieved an A* for the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

It was particularly pleasing this year to see a big improvement in the quality of grades across many subjects, with nearly 30% of all grades at A*- A and 50% of grades at A*- B. All-told 19 A* grades were achieved, an increase of 50% from last year.

We are also particularly pleased at the significant improvement in the quality of outcomes for students following Applied General courses where the average grade is a Distinction *. 19 students achieved a double Distinction * grade in either Business, Health & Social Care, Science or Sport.

These fabulous results are the culmination of seven years of secondary education and a very proud moment for so many as they prepare to embark on the next stage of their journey – many to university, some taking a year out and others starting modern apprenticeships. Whatever their outcomes and wherever their future leads them, we are all immensely proud of their achievements and grateful for all they have given us over the years.
