Senior Student Team Campaign Week

Our annual Student Council election process is storming ahead! 

Campaign week for the Head Team runs from Monday 23rd November until Friday 27th November, with all 11 candidates sharing their vision and ideas with all students and staff, through tutor time, assemblies, videos and posters.  We hope all students will participate in the democratic process by casting their vote by 4pm on Friday 27th November 2020. Here is some information about our amazing candidates:

Alana

Alana

  • More focus on charity work and raising awareness around subjects with a lot of stigma.
  • Looking after our environment and the planet.
  • Life skills in tutor.
Amy

Amy

  • Mental wellbeing check-ups with tutors or trusted members of staff for all students.
  • A mentor system where older students can help to support younger students.
  • A rewards system to recognise those who consistently behave but also provide a greater incentive for other students to improve their behaviour.
Ben

Ben

  • More student-led assemblies
  • Use tutor time to educate people on the life skills and general knowledge.
  • Use the previous two points to develop awareness of wider issues, like Black history, Pride, anti-bullying, etc.
Deborah

  • Having a day where each individual can show their culture and their pride from where they are from.
  • Inter-tutor sports competitions  and quizzes  once every term for every tutor group, Year 7 to 13.
  • Many different charity events to help and all the charities that need supporting around the world.

  • School life through a pandemic e.g. modification of sports.
  • More music around school.
  • More activities during tutor time.

  • Implement more mental health support around exam time.
  • Tutor games and competitions.
  • Celebrating different cultures and events.

  • More equality of opportunity in sports (girls rugby and boys netball, etc).

  • More education/information on minorities (ethnicity and LGBT) through assemblies and tutor activities.

  • More focus on recycling to limit our impact on the environment in order to combat the damage caused to the environment due to extra covid-19 precautions.

  • Being a voice for every student.
  • Introduction of political learning because everyone should know what is going on in today's climate.
  • Using environmentally friendly materials in the Canteen and greater recycling.
Olivia

  • Introduce more competitions, both inter-tutor contests and for individuals, and more concerts for students to showcase their talents.
  • More vegetarian, vegan and healthy options in the canteen with environmentally friendly packaging.
  • Break the stigma of ‘girls’ sports and ‘boys’ sports for extra-curricular activities.

  • Enrichment for all years to teach valuable life skills to students to better prepare them for the future ahead of them.
  • More fundraising opportunities for the school and for charities.
  • More opportunities for the Student Council to meet and work with the Senior Leadership Team.
Yusuf

Yusuf

  • Organising social events such as small music festival performed by students and members of staff that are willing to take place.
  • Making some changes to the product range and price in the canteen.
  • Offering new opportunities to students that would help them improve their future careers and academic applications.
