Notes:

1. The homework timetable shows when you might do your homework, it does not show when it is set.

2. You can be set homework in any lesson by any teacher, however, they would not expect you to hand it in until after the day shown on your timetable.

3. You do not have to follow this timetable, but your teachers will use it to plan when the homework is due it.  It is your responsibility to ensure that homework is handed in to the teacher at the correct time.

4. You should not be asked to complete homework for the next day, unless you are catching up with work that has not been done previously or you have missed a deadline.

5. Homework should be shown on Show My Homework, it is recommended that you record hand in dates and details in your learning log.

6. For longer project work (e.g. Year 7 and 8), you should use the timetable to help you organise your completion of the project over a longer period of time.  Teachers may ask you to share how much you have done each week.

7. You may be set additional tasks such as preparing for tests and assessments as needed by subjects.

8. You should ensure that you spend sufficient time on your homework to complete it properly.  The following is a guide to how long you might spend on homework.

Year Time- on average
Year 7 60 minutes a day – up to 5 hours a week + 70 minutes reading per week.
Year 8 60 minutes a day – up to 6 hours a week + 70 minutes reading per week.
Year 9 1 ½  hour a day – up to 8 hours a week + 70 minutes reading per week.
Year 10 & 11 1½ - 2 hours a day – between 8 and 10 hours a week.

Remember:  It is your responsibility to ensure that you know what homework is set and when it should be completed by. You should always aim to complete homework to the best of your ability. If you do not do so, departmental sanctions may be applied.
